Her er en kopi af det jeg skrev til PR-ladies da vi var i København sidste sommer:

Copenhagen:
There are so many fabric stores in central Copenhagen. Some more interesting than others. Here’s a list of some:

H. Skipper Stoffer, Gl. Mønt 19, 1117 København K
Probably the most famous fabric store in Copenhagen. This is high quality, higher priced fabric. This is where you get fabrics from Donna Karan, Versace etc. And you pay for it! They also have ecological wool and cotton jerseys about 150 - 250 kr/meter. It’s a wonderfull store, but too expensive for me.

C. City Sycenter, Rosengaarden 12-14, 1174 København K and
City Sycenter Kids, Rosengaarden 9, 1174 København K
Great store with a large selection of special and trendy fabrics. Good Quality and fair prices (100 kr/meter). This is where I’m going to search for stretch denim and sweater knits in interesting colours and textures! And great selection of fabrics for kids!

F. Handler, Vingårdstræde 19, kl tv,1070 København K
Embellishments and specility fabrics. Also specilality zippers etc. Expensive, but this is where you find the rare things. They also carry upper scale lingerie fabrics etc. Interesting small store - definitily worth a look!

G. ITA-textiles, Tordenskjoldgade 14, 1055 København K
I haven’t been to this myself, but it looks very interesting! The add says: everything in Silk, Linen, wool, cotton, cashmere, lace. I’m guessing it is expensive, but they have a very large selection. See pictures from the store here: http://www.ita-textiles.dk/butikken.htm . Opening hours are 12 to 20 on Fridays. I’m going there to have a look!

J. I.W. Hvidberg, Løngangsstræde 25, 1468 København K
Was established in 1780 (so it’s 225 years old). They have high quality fabrics and old fashioned service. I haven’t been there, but I think we should go, if not for buying then for the history of this place! Website: http://www.iwhvidberg.dk/forside.htm Opening hours: 10 - 17.30.

Stof 2000
Is a chain store with several stores in central Copenhagen. For instance: A. Frederiksborggade 24, 1360 København K (close to Nørreport station), K. Frederiksberggade 19, 1459 København K (close to town square).
Occasionally they have something interesting. I might go looking for some swim suit fabric, and also for some velour. But mostly it’s the same as Stof og Stil, but just a little more expensive. They are worth a visit, though. Just don’t buy the fleece. It’s the same price as in Stof og Stil, but not as good quality! Opening hours 9.30 - 19.

D. Stofdillen, Nørregade 36, 1165 København K (close to Nørreport Station).
This is the fabric discount store. Here you can find really cheap fabric for muslins. Everything is precut in 1.5 m pieces. They do have some nice things occasionally, but also some horrible stuff sometimes.. This is where I get fabric for yoga pants (20 kr per pair - max!). Opening hours 10 - 18.

Stofresten, Dybbølgade 68 forr, 1721 København V
The name means The Fabric remnant. I’ve never heard about it, just saw a listing in the phonebook. It’s a little outside of central Copenhagen, but within walking distance from the city square.

B. Textilhuset, Frederiksborgade 39, 1350 København K (close to Nørreport Station)
I don’t know this store, but if we go to the Stof 2000 and the Stofdillen we might as well see what this is
